Amendment to Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Membership of Berkshire Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)

The Berkshire MPO is responsible under federal law (23, USC, Chapter I, Sec. 134) for carrying out a continuing, comprehensive and coordinated (3C) metropolitan transportation planning process for the Berkshire Region. The MPO is required under federal regulations (23CFR450.301) to have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the MPO members and the state identifying the responsibilities for carrying out the 3C planning process. A new MOU expanding MPO membership to include representation of local elected officials from Berkshire County was signed by the four original MPO member agencies and the six new members on February 28, 2006

Public Participation Plan for the Berkshire MPO

The Public Participation Plan describes the public participation procedures used for a number of years by BRPC in fulfilling its role in the MPO transportation planning process, and also includes adjustments that have been made in the years since 1996 to incorporate the innovative goals and requirements of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) and its successors. In addition to past practice, the plan also reflects public and agency comments received during the airing of an earlier draft in 2002 and 2003.
