Berkshire County Hazard Mitigation Plan

Hazard Mitigation is any sustained action taken to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk to people and property from hazards and their effects.  The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 makes Mitigation Planning a REQUIREMENT to maintain eligibility for HMGP & PDM funds.  These plans must describe the hazards and the vulnerability to the hazards for the region.  The plans also must document mitigation activities for the hazards within the region.

The BRPC has released the draft 2011 Berkshire County Hazard Mitigation Plan (Microsoft Word 10MB ) (PDF 4MB) (updated Jan 26, 2011).  The public is welcome to review this document and provide comments.  Written comments should be provided to Mark Maloy by March 31, 2011.
