Zoning Technical Assistance

ADAMS – Downtown Zoning
BRPC is providing technical assistance to the Town of Adams to re-write sections of the towns zoning bylaws to assist in revitalizing, preserving, and expanding the downtown character of Adams’ traditional town center.

GREAT BARRINGTON - Open Space Zoning
BRPC is working with the Great Barrington Planning Board to develop zoning language for an Open Space Residential Development Bylaw for the town.

WILLIAMSTOWN – Open Space Zoning
BRPC is working with the Williamstown Planning Board and Community Preservation Committee to develop zoning language for an Open Space Residential Development Bylaw for the town.

One important step in addressing the multitude of challenges facing communities in the Berkshires is to review and update the municipalities' local regulatory standards. In many cases, local zoning bylaws are ill equipped to handle increased growth and new construction technologies. In response, BRPC provides technical assistance to communities that wish to review and prepare revisions or additions to their zoning bylaws that promote historic preservation, agricultural preservation, preservation of community character, and a community's affordability and livability.
